An FTA card is a chemically treated filter paper designed for the collection, preservation, and shipment of biological samples for subsequent DNA and RNA analysis. The patented chemical matrix lyses cellular membranes, denatures proteins, inactivates bacteria, viruses, and nucleases, and fixes DNA directly onto cellulose fibers, halting bacterial growth and permitting ambient room-temperature storage of genomic DNA for decades without refrigeration, while remaining directly amplifiable by PCR. Each card carries a single dedicated sample application circle supporting a maximum absorption volume of 125 μL per sample area.
